Being Broke Isn't Cute, LLC

Let us help you make your money work as hard for you, as you do for it.

Financial RESET

This article is late. Usually I release my blog on Wednesday night, but after writing the blog, reading it, reading it again, then reading it for a third time, I scrapped it. It just wasn’t what was in my heart for you right now. I will most likely use the information at a later time, but for now, this is what is in my heart not only for you, but for me as well.

Money is about eighty percent mental and only twenty percent actual work, meaning how you think about money, drives what you do with it. When your mind is in a healthy place, you tend to do financially healthy things, like budget, save, invest and spend wisely. If our mentality or emotions are in an unhealthy state, how we handle our money will eventually reflects it. This is regardless of how much or how little money we have.

So, I find myself, and maybe you do too, in need of a reset.

Not that I was in a “bad” place mentally, emotionally, financially or even physically. It was more like I wasn’t where I could be. I’ve heard “good” is the enemy of “great”, and I believe I truly get that now. It’s like I am comfortable and cozy on my couch watching a good movie. However, I know a movie I like better is on a different channel. Yet, I continued to watch the current movie because I choose not to get up off the couch to retrieve the TV remote from the dining room table…LOL

The Britannica dictionary provides four examples of how the word “reset” can be used.

A: to move (something) back to an original place or position…
There are some areas of my life that where my joy and peace have diminished and I want it restored.
For you last year could have been financially rough and you are working to get back to where you were. You want to get the bills caught up and paid on time going forward. That’s just where you are. Your reset is to stabilize your financial situation and return to a place of financial security.

B: to put (a broken bone) back in the correct position for healing…
The “broken” areas in life are challenging, because the breaking hurts, the correction hurts and the healing takes time and can be uncomfortable. It may be tempting to leave things as is, but if you leave a broken arm to heal on its own, your arm may not set properly and end up being unusable in the future. There are some broken areas of my life, old and new, that are in need of healing. It’s time to take charge and face the challenge. For you, your reset could be creating a plan and budget to get your finances back on track.

C: to put (a gem) into a new piece of jewelry…
Are there new places you are supposed to be? Or are you still in your comfortable, safe, and “good” place not wanting to move? It is time for me, and you, to move into new areas, places that may not feel comfortable, safe or “good”, at first, but are where we are supposed to be. Your reset could be re-evaluating where you are and deciding it’s your need to pursue greater.

D: to change (something) so that it shows a different time or can be used again…
Have you lost or wasted time and feel as though you missed an opportunity? I know I have, and it can be heartbreaking, especially if know it was a part of your purpose. For me, I have to push aside any thoughts I have of lost or missed chances. Mainly because if I spend time mourning the past, I miss out on my present and future, then the cycle starts all over again. Part of your reset could be learning from your miss and use it to prepare for our next opportunity. It’s coming, so be ready!
